What stories animate your life's work?
So many stories, so little space to write...
Facing critical decisions about their future, I designed and co-hosted a 16-month strategic engagement using contemplative dialogue with a congregation of Dominican nuns. The outcome was inspirational and courageous. The community chose to ‘set out anew together’ focusing on current world needs including immigrants, refugees, anti-racism, and earth stewardship
Leadership Capacity Building
Leadership capacity building has always been my calling, including everything from 30-day wilderness stress challenge trip leading to half-day workshops to directing a 10-month graduate level leadership program. My primary approach is called 'The Art of Hosting and Harvesting Conversations that Matter', a community of practice in which I serve as a global steward.
The Art of Hosting
The Art of Hosting trainings in Karlskrona Sweden have become a global phenomenon, and I've hosted with 5 of the 8 teams. Since 2010, 100+ participants gather annually from 20+ countries. In Vietnam, a new field is emerging which I'm co-stewarding. Two trainings were called in the first year - a dynamic hunger for collaborative leadership is rising!
Innovative Program Design
From half-day programs to year-long curriculum, educational design is one of those things I can't not do. Driven to create transformative learning environments where perceived limits are released and innate potential is activated, I'm most called to design non-traditional experiential learning environments for those who want to make the world a more resilient, thriving place for all.
A new master's degree in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design was proposed at Brunel University London. While director of the Master's in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden, we were invited to co-create an innovative and collaborative course design in sustainability and leadership, which continues today.
Strategic Sustainable Development & Coaching
As an educator, trainer, coach, social entrepreneur and strategic planner, I've been guiding communities, organizations and students towards strategic sustainable development since 1993.
For two years, I coordinated and lead cross-sector trainings for twenty organizations with the Sustainable Twin Ports Early Adopter Project using 'The Natural Step' approach to strategic sustainable development. Pictured here is Tom Hanson, owner of the Duluth Grill, who has fully embraced sustainability, accelerating the movement in Duluth Minnesota.
